Patients who, for example, have been bedridden for a long time or have deformities of the lower leg after an accident or paralysis, corrective surgery on the calves is quite common.      

In calfplasty, an implant is inserted through an incision directly in the hollow of the knee. There are many different sizes and shapes of implants to suit all needs.

Once inserted, the implant cannot usually slip out of place because it is surrounded by a connective tissue sheath.
